about

I grew up in a small village in Southern Manitoba. My parents were grain and dairy farmers. "Where Wheat Grew Tall", basically chronicles my childhood journey. More importantly this song paints a picture of a place where I internalized all of the values that I hold dear as an adult.

lyrics

Where Wheat Grew Tall

I grew up
Not too far from here
Memories ringing
From my childhood ears
I had it all
Where wheat grew tall

Neighbors' knew me
Just like family
And every front porch window
Looking over me
I had it all
Where wheat grew tall
I had it all
Where wheat grew tall

Chorus
And I hold on
To every lesson I learned back then
And I hold on
To every care-free day I spent
Ooooooooh Oooooooooh
Where the Wheat Grew Tall

Ooooooooh Oooooooooh
Where the Wheat Grew Tall

It’s where I Learned about work
And I learned about play
Confessed every sin
At the end of every day
I had it all (Trumpet)
Where wheat grew tall

Every now and then
Those memories circle back around
From every tree fort I built
To every creek I floated down
I had it All
Where Wheat Grew Tall
Yeah I had it all
Where the wheat grew tall

Ooooooooh Oooooooooh
Where the Wheat Grew Tall

Ooooooooh Oooooooooh
Where the Wheat Grew Tall

about

Warren Friesen Winkler, Manitoba

I am currently a high school counsellor who has a dream of making music my profession.

I grew up in a small village in Southern Manitoba, Canada. It is here where I learned about work . It is here where I learned about play.

As a young boy spending hours lying beside our huge cabinet record-player trying to emulate my musical heroes. I began singing in public at the age of twenty-three.
